Are you spending or investing throughout your business, relationships, self, and life?
I recently had an epiphany with a client who was struggling with a complicated challenge. There wasn't a clear path forward. And there were plenty of obstacles.
In a brilliant coaching moment, if I do say so myself, I paused and offered a perspective with a question:
"You have three currencies: time, energy, and money. Where are you getting a positive or negative return?"
He immediately understood the question and generated some critical insights. This illuminated a path forward. I now knew exactly how to help.
Think about this question as it pertains to your business, processes, relationships, and decision-making.
Time (ROT): Return on Time
Is a finite resource, or is it?
How are you spending or investing your time? Where can you scale with tech, resources, and delegation?
Energy (ROE): Return on Energy
Is abundant or scarce.
What energizes you like you are plugged into the wall versus drains you like you are plugged into a battery? This also gives insight into your personal brand, your "genius zone," and where your success will thrive.
Money (ROI): Return on Investment
Is either being spent, invested, or earned.
Is this cost an expense or an investment? Is your time and energy maximizing revenue and income?
The Big Question
Is your Time, Energy, and Money generating a positive or negative return?
Your three currencies go far beyond simple business decisions; they are critical to your health, happiness, and success.
If you want to make shift happen, this is a powerful insight into where to invest versus spend so you are always maximizing a positive return.
I often say, if I won the lottery, I would do this for free. Coaching, keynotes, and strategic planning retreats all give me a positive return on my three currencies.
If this gives you insight, grab a huddle with me, and I am happy to help. It is what I do.

What is the difference between spending and investing?
Spending depletes; investing compounds. A cost is an expense when it drains energy with no return, and an investment when it builds momentum, skills, or relationships. The question is whether each hour, ounce of energy, and dollar moves you toward the business you want.
How do I know where my energy is best spent?
Look at what energizes you like you are plugged into the wall versus what drains you like a battery. That insight points to your genius zone and your personal brand. Stop chasing goals and start chasing the activities that give you a positive return.
